It helps purify the country of recalcitrants. It is a Maoist impulse, and Biden has his own Red Guard, the Karens screaming on Twitter and in stores and wearing masks alone in cars. They are the grass-roots tyrants.”

Tyrannen kan inte styra och regera utan sin pöbel. Om pöbeln vänds mot tyrannen så är denne slut. Den som sitter på makten måste kontinuerligt mata sin pöbel med nya offer, men det finns en hake här – dels så kommer offren till slut bli uppenbarade som offer, dels så kommer så småningom den praktiska verkligheten ge sig till känna. När mannen vänds mot sin hustru, när barnen vänder sig mot sina föräldrar, när dugliga kollegor säger upp sig eller får sparken, börjar det inte bränna i samvetet hos gräsrotstyrannerna, så är vi sannelrigen i en post-kristen era, men jag tror inte vi är så långt gångna.

Vidare, när produkter och tjänster vi har tagit för självklara inte längre är det, därför att de som skulle skaffa inte längre får lov att utföra arbetet som behövs. När dugliga arbetare inte ens längre finns att tillgå och när statens kärverksamheter, våldsmonoplet och rättstaten brakar ihop, då kommer vi märka att vi står, både i ett materiellt och ett andligt ödeland.
